I'm entering Vivan Kirkfield's #50PreciousWords writing contest. More details and all the amazing submissions can be read at her website.
If you've ever tried writing a story using no more than 50 words, you know it's extremely challenging! After trying out a few different possibilities, I decided to revive and boil down an earlier story I had written. It's about a child's visit to a NYC art museum, and the effect that a particular Piet Mondrian painting has on him. I tried to capture the feeling of being excited, but eventually getting overwhelmed/tired/hungry... and how connecting a work of art to one's own experience can be re-invigorating. But again, using only 50 words is... well... hard. (But fun!) I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!
